Cheap Chip vs. the Philippines
Poor Chip Tsao. Today he followed his employer by issuing an apology for his 27th of March column in HK Magazine. This piece of writing enraged Filipinos from every corner of the globe, as Chip has labeled the Philippines a ‘country of servants which depends on China for most of its bread and butter.’
Why such harsh words? Chip was pissed off by the Philippines’ claim over the Spratly Islands, which the mighty motherland also wants to get its hands on. We knew already that Chip was a true patriot, but that it would lead to a ban from the Philippines.. ouch. And if that’s not enough, the group ‘United Filipinos’ is planning on mobilizing the community for a protest on the 5th of April. Even the Dark Side got a piece of the action today via the following message in our inbox:
‘Chip or should I call you CHEAP, because anyway your remarks about the Philippines as Nation of SERVANTS is so cheap that you deserved to be called as such. First of all, not all Filipinos are DOMESTIC HELPER here in Hong Kong and you should be intellegent enough (if you are) to know that. Most of us here are professionals working as DESIGNERS, ARCHITECTS, BANKERS, EDUCATORS (like me) and so on, and some are better than you in living status that they can afford you to hire as their servant and call them masters. You should be ashamed of youself. Not because you are so called WRITER/JOURNALIST writing in well-known magazines and newspapers, you can write something damaging like this. You know what, the! Helper working for you has more dignity than you and that is more damaging in reality. Wake up CHEAP or go and educate yourself again to be in touch with what is real and what is fantacy. Unrespectfully your, BS’
BS, judging from the spelling and grammar mistakes, you must indeed be an excellent EDUCATOR. But alas, Chip doesn’t write for us. Thanks though for allowing us to be even more amused by this situation. Unfortunately your fellow countrymen aren’t helping much either, as the last words of Jerry’s column here kinda reinforce Hong Kong’s assumptions regarding the general Filipino intelligence level. Oh what the heck. God bless us for having Filipino maids!
