Langham vids removed from Youtube

One big hurray for Langham’s decisiveness. Yesterday we finally received an email from Youtube saying that the Langham vids have been removed due to copyright infringement. Heck, what took ‘m so long? We guess the stream of bad publicity became a tad too intense when two days ago a leading trade website reported about their gigantic screw up. That’s in addition to other sites/blogs here, here and here. But do not despair, oh students of viral marketing/sensation seekers/angry locals/offended gweilos/Douglas White haters. We just spotted the 2nd (and best!) video of the series on Dailymotion here, courtesy of ‘chickencongee’. Counting down until removal…

Update: And we’ve got mail. It’s General Manager Shaun Campbell with a link to his “sincere” apology from Langham Hotels. Shaun, just purchase an awesome social viral new media marketing web 2.0 ad campaign with us and we will forget about all it.

Update II: The video on Dailymotion has also been removed. Kudos for Langham’s quick response this time! Guess they’ve been F5′ing us for a while..

Now it looks like the apology video has been removed, too. Did they "un" apologize? lol

These folks should just go back to the stone ages and stay there, and take their PR people with them!!

Finally an appropriate response, albeit somewhat belated.

It was the *incorrect* response to suggest that somehow the campaign had been 'misinterpreted' and that they were satirical.

One thing is missing though... I think we Mongkok residents are interested to know how such videos were devised, commissioned and approved in the first place. What went wrong?

Re: Finding it Odd - Maybe that's why so many people hate those in the finance industry - they make mistakes and never admit to their failings...

The finance and marketing industries are completely different. Langham was right to address the situation by apologizing. By not saying anything the scar would only get deeper and it would have left itself open to more ridicule – if they hadn’t said anything I’m pretty sure people would have commented about the fact they didn’t try to apologise and they would have been accused of hiding away.

I entirely agree the videos were awful, I don't think Langham is trying to hard to cover up their mistakes, it's apologizing for them and I think it's taken the right approach to respond to the public’s comments.

Ok, so the Big Deal went sour- after watching the video and heartfelt apology, doesn't it seem like the Langham is trying a bit too hard to cover up their mistakes? the finance industry makes loads of errors, but its part of the game. Shouldn't the marketing industry be the same? Its like acknowledging the mistake makes it so much more of a scar than just letting it pass. Aii

I have had business dealings with Douglas White in the past and found him to be very unscrupulous and dishonest.
