Trust your local prostitute
In China there are many things that Westerners would call ‘odd.’ Take a recent study conducted by Insight Magazine for example. Apparently ’sex workers’ (a.k.a prostitutes, pros, ladies of the night, hookers, Milfo’s masseuses, Johnson jumpers, actresses, and Edison’s exes) are trusted more than scientists, politicians and teachers.
In a post communist state, where receiving a blow job is currently easier than finding an actual job (unless you’re willing to provide the bj of course), it seems interesting that public opinion ranks the Ho’s of China in the top three of most respected professions, next to farmers and religious workers. But let’s go back a minute.
Farmers have always been the backbone of China, feeding the populace until they were forced to begin industrial jobs and pushed into the cities, then once again moved back out to the fields to work, and then back into the cities once the money in the fields dried up. Confused? Mao wasn’t. Although he would be about the religious workers.
So there you have it, the top 3: Hookers, monks and Farmer Wu. So who CAN’T we trust? Glad you asked. For this survey, the bottom feeders included real estate developers (poor Li Ka Shing), secretaries (or more accurately, sex workers with medical and fixed salary), agents (Chinese equivalents of Jack Bauer), entertainers and directors (sex with Jackie Chan gets you a movie role… so we heard)
So is China the flip side of the Western world? Where people shun prostitutes for their ‘evil ways’ and glorify the entertainers, idolizing useless organisms in the process (Kardashian, Spelling, Hilton..) for spending loads of money on tits and toys? Seems like it. The China Daily admits that the rankings are “at the same time surprising and embarrassing.”
Don’t be so hard on yourself China. Females represent the superior gender anyway. It comforts us to know that China’s most trustworthy have a great stronghold on Chinese politicians and their balls. Literally.
