Boyfriend drops “I have AIDS” bomb at McDonald’s

While McDonald’s constantly pushes itself as a family central, kid-friendly place, it seems that Mc D’s has proven to contribute to society on a different level: social center. Last week someone captured some local drama as a panicky boyfriend tries to tell his girlfriend that he has contracted HIV/AIDS:

For those who don’t speak Cantonese, here’s a small synopsis: The girlfriend assumes that he contracted the STD from a hooker, because obviously only hookers can be dirty. Meanwhile, he insists that he doesn’t know how he got it. When the chap wants to hold her hand and comfort her, she slaps his hand away, saying: “Don’t touch me, you’re dirty.” Not too surprising perhaps, as we already knew HK kids receive shitty sex education. It does get more interesting though. While we’re all thinking “poor girl, damn asshole” she throws a curve ball by mentioning a 2nd boyfriend the dude at Maccy D’s had no clue about… Oh yes, nothing beats local teenage drama.

@ Midget: Well, I never said that I had thought it was supposed to be funny, I said it was rather ironic or sarcastic and felt it was inappropriate. If it was staged, even worse. One doesn't do something like that without telling the "audience" later that the whole thing had been made-up to check for public reaction. Strong objection from my side. And The Dark Side should have done better research on it if it had just been staged.

And, if you can read Chinese, more about the video here:http://hk.news.yahoo.com/article/090817/4/dr5o.html

It was done by a group of students at Baptist U. They said they did it for an anti-aids campaign (but I guess they did it just for fun). I understand that it was filmed some time ago but was not uploaded to youtube until last weekend.

@Wan Ho - really?. What was it for? We were arguing back and forth in the office so I'm curious as to how long its been around and what it was done for.....

All you pussies out there who think this isn't funny.. who says it is supposed to be funny? The Dark Side is simply showing us stuff that happens in real life in our city. If you can't appreciate it, just stay away and go check out the sesame street website.

Though I usually like dark humor, I really don't think it's funny.

I must admit, it was pretty hilarious in the beginning (I'm referring to them making a scene in public.) But I'm starting to feel sorry for the guy. The fact that the (high maintenance) girlfriend had no compassion whatsoever was pretty cold. At one point she said... "don't touch me, you're dirty..."
On the flip side, it was a bad idea to drop the bombshell in public.

This video has been around for awhile. The whole thing was staged.

Well, my ability to understand Cantonese is not so good, even after some years of being and working in HK once in a while but that is not just teenage drama, my dear. And "nothing beats teenage drama" sounds very sarcastic and is not apropriate. That boy suffers from HIV and even though it is more like a chronic disease now, it will change his life. So even in this blog, serious things should be treated in a serious way. Irony is not always good. I know this blog is full of sarcasm but rather leave a story out if it doesn't fit. Thanks.

I love local teen dramas especially when they do it in public places like MTR
