Eight great things in Hong Kong

It’s always interesting to read or hear what non HK residents have to say about the Big Lychee, as there is nothing more endearing than a fresh-off-the-boat perspective on the city we have developed a love/hate relationship with. Take Vivian Yan for example, whose HK born parents migrated to the U.S. when they were teenagers. Let’s see what great tips she has to offer on the basis of a recent trip back to the motherland. Eight things not to miss:

- Fu Kee Restaurant, Mong Kok
Apparently this place serves spectacular cha siu on a bed of white rice. Yummy.
- Tian Tan Buddha, Lantau Island
Our bronze Buddha statue finished in 1993 is indeed a sight to behold.
- Ladies’ Market, Mong Kok
Yup, a genuine shopping paradise. Although Langham Hotel guests beg to differ.
- The bus ride to Victoria Peak
Scary ‘life threatening’ ride up. Yikes!
- Avenue of Stars, TST
Home of our tribute to Bruce Lee, the San Francisco born local hero.
- White dolphins, Tai O
Hurry before they’re all polluted and dead.
- Kung Wo Dou Bun Chong, Sham Shui Po
A ‘famous’ tofu joint.
- Pizza flavored Pringles, any 7-Eleven.
Ehh?

Cheers for pointing out the typo Jeff. As for the color of the dolphins, the species is called 'Chinese White Dolphin' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_White_Dolphin)

I think you'll find that the dolphins are *pink* and that it's Mong *Kok*...
  • Avenue of Stars, Big Buddha - oh please! Tourist traps of the highest order...
