MTR media firm bitch-slaps Brüno distributor

You probably noticed that our gay Austrian fashion reporter finally made it to Hong Kong this week. The movie and all its promotional material had beeen approved by the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority, Hong Kong’s ratings administrator, with the film rated Category III (restricted to people over 18) and the advertising material rated Category I, suitable for all ages. Part of the marketing push involved posters and billboards at various MTR stations. Yet to the astonishment of the movie distributor, Panorama, media firm JCDecaux refused to put up these posters, citing that the film’s translated title makes reference to Bruno’s penis and making ‘men in America hard.’

Now what most folks might have missed, is that Panorama retaliated by hiring a local, rather scary looking version of Brüno:

scary-gay-guy

to pose in front of the ads featuring ‘pseudo’ model Chrissie Chau (what’s so pseudo about a body like that escapes us, but moving on..), in order to draw attention to JCDecaux’ ‘double standards’ about men and women in revealing outfits.

As far as we know, Chrissie’s posters did not have any Chinese characters on them referring to Hong Kong men getting hard, although it’s pretty obvious she has the ability to do just that. And since we don’t really care about JCDecaux’ ‘double standards’, here, here, and here is a bit more of Chrissie to enjoy.
