Donald the ass kissing photographer

I said nothing about Donald Tsang in the Libertines Pub these weeks after his policy address. For one thing, I always wish that the government does almost nothing about Hong Kong. I just think that the less they do, the happier we will be. It’s even better if, because of the little works that are required, we could pay even lower taxes. I dream about the government shrinking day by day to become a really tiny hole (not like now, though they’re also holes, but a completely different kind…), where miniature police officers would pop out of it to the crime scenes and laser beam the criminals. And just that. That’s why I was not at all upset by the CE’s policy address.

Neither do I want to moan about home ownership. There’s a list of pros for renting a flat. Like any other things in the world, there also cons. We should be making our own choice. Why the hell should the government do anything about property prices really? Supply and demand. I also don’t want to dig deeper into light bulb-gate. It’s just plain non-sense. But as everybody’s ranting at Donald Tsang, I better say something about him as well!

Some of you might not know that Donald is a semi-professional photographer (his equipment is definitely professional: the camera hanging around his honorable neck is a HK$30,000+ Nikon D3). Up on the balcony of the Tiananmen Square at the past National Day Parade, Donald was seen shooting photos with his D3 and another unnamed camera. Everybody in Hong Kong nowadays has a camera with her/him, so kudos to Donald for representing HK fashion to those important mainland officials. It’s reported that he has taken more than 300 photos during the two-hour parade. So where have these pics gone?

They’re not seen on his blog. I also searched Facebook, but he doesn’t seem to have an account there. So I really didn’t have a clue… until I read this article in the Hong Kong Economic Journal. Apparently Donald has not shot much of what was going on in the parade. Instead, most of his 300+ photos were diplomatic shots of mainland officials of different ranks. He commented his shots were amateurish and because of that, he was too shy to share them. No need to be so humble dear CE! These pictures are of the most professional kind.

So that’s our 煲呔曾. He was among the lucky ones to have a chance to go on that balcony during the parade and rich enough to own a Nikon D3. He refused to take some good shots of the parade and share them with the people in Hong Kong, which unfortunately illustrates that the man is still stuck with that ass-kissing dutiful mentality he practiced so well during his British Hong Kong days. All hail the great leader of Hong Kong.

I wasn’t surprised by the flimsy policy address. In fact, I quite enjoy a government doing nothing. So let’s cut the fat salary checks of our civil servants and we’ll all be happier, except for the civil servants of course. After our CE stands down, I don’t think I’m going to remember much about him later in life. I still miss Tung Chee Hwa, like I miss Dubya, for all the entertainment they added to our daily news intake. Donald? Not even a photo for us to look at.
