Hong Kong excells at stuff
Yesterday was a great day for our city. Coincidentally, the good news came from two Scandinavian nations. Firstly, a study by Norwegian scientists revealed that Hong Kong has the world’s 2nd largest carbon footprint per capita. Bravo! As most of the environmental impact comes from the manufacturing and transportation of goods, we’re confident we can steal the no.1 spot from Luxembourg next year as the economy picks up a bit more.
Much, much more important however is the fact that another HK citizen was crowned world champion of something. Was it Ng On-yee last week who kicked ass at snooker, this week we celebrate the glorious victory of Jimmy Chan as Santa of the Year in the little town of Gaellivare, Sweden. Jimmy beat fellow contestants from Burundi, South Africa and Australia at climbing chimneys, wrapping presents and eating porridge, so the title is well deserved.
