The Dark Side represents an online medium that addresses the social, political, cultural, religious, economic and environmental issues that us Hong Kongers have to deal with in a refreshing, light-hearted and at times slightly provocative manner. At the same time it is a source of entertainment, where random or pointless facts, either related or unrelated to Hong Kong, are presented together with comments by our team of anonymous bloggers.

The name

As all gweilos, gweipors, ABC’s or other non-HK born folks who have been living here for some time know, ‘The Dark Side’ is a term which is used to refer to Kowloon and the New Territories. In the ignorant minds of most of us, The Dark Side stands for a degradation in all matters that make living on HK Island so worthwhile (the ‘nicer’ offices, restaurants, clubs, bars, shops, other expats/ABC’s/gweilos, etc.). It’s a typical phrase among those who are exactly our target segment with this blog.
